Who Are We?
Who Are We?
Our team members are caring, background-checked individuals trained in safety and first aid. While they’re not early childhood educators, they’re committed to creating a warm, playful environment. Their role is to support exploration, encourage imaginative play, and ensure everyone is safe and having fun.
What’s changing at Mulberry Lane Del Ray?
Based on parent feedback, we’re shifting toward a more programmed weekly rhythm. This includes scheduled caregiver-and-child classes, Play Time windows, and more intentional afternoon and evening programming.
What is Play Time?
During Play Time, the Play Lane is open for children and caregivers to play together. Mulberry Staff will check you and your child in, not be supervising play in the Play Lane. Capacity is limited to 15 children and caregivers must remain on site at all times.
Why does it cost $5?
Play Time at Mulberry Lane has a small entry fee of $5 to help us keep the space clean and to replace and rotate toys. There will be a half hour each day that the Play Lane is closed for cleaning. And we want to hear from you! We will have a form for requesting new toys, books, and activities at the Shorty’s counter.
Is Play Time supervised by Mulberry Lane staff?
No. Play Time is unsupervised and participated in at your own risk. Mulberry Lane staff do not provide supervision during Play Time, and caregivers remain responsible for their children’s safety and behavior. If you need assistance at any time, you may visit the Shorty’s counter.
What if my child can’t play independently?
Children who cannot play independently must be actively accompanied by a caregiver at all times during Play Time.
What programs are supervised?
All scheduled classes and programs (such as Parent & Me, Pizza Making, Crafting, etc.) are staff-led and supervised, unless otherwise noted.
Can I drop my child off for this new programming?
Drop-off eligibility for specific programming depends on the specific program and the child’s age and readiness. Details will always be listed in the program description. Parents dropping off for supervised programming must remain on-site (at Shorty’s, Goldfinch Social, Evening Star Cafe, Hi Fi Tex Mex BBQ).
What programming happens in the afternoons?
We offer structured afternoon and evening programming including classes like cooking, crafts, nature exploration, and special events. Programming details vary week to week and are shared on our website.
What about weekends?
Saturdays and Sundays are primarily reserved for birthday parties and private events. Play Time availability on weekends is limited and dependent on the party schedule. We recommend checking our website or social media before visiting.
I have unused hour packs — what happens to them?
All existing hour packs remain valid during this transition. They can be used for Play Time as well as classes, programming, and even birthday party credits. They can also be used at Mulberry Lane DC, which still has supervised play 7 days a week. If you have questions or need help planning, please reach out — we’re happy to help
Why are you making these changes now?
We’ve spent time listening to families and learning what works best for our community. These changes are designed to better support children, caregivers, and staff — and to create a calmer, more intentional experience for everyone.
What are your cleaning and sanitation practices?
Cleanliness is a priority:
-
High-touch surfaces and toys are sanitized multiple times per day using botanical disinfectant cleaners.
-
Soft toys and upholstered materials are steamed and cleaned off-site on a regular schedule, or as needed.
-
Every toy is cleaned every day.
-
Hand sanitizer stations are available, and we encourage children and adults to sanitize upon entry and throughout the visit.
Policies Around Personal Care
-
Staff will notify you if your child needs a diaper change or has an accident; you are expected to respond promptly.
-
Staff will accompany older children to the bathroom, allowing privacy while maintaining supervision by waiting just outside the bathroom door or stall, depending on location.
Policies Around Illness and Guest Dismissal
-
If any guest or parent/guardian behaves in a manner perceived as violent, threatening, aggressive, sexually explicit or suggestive, or otherwise inappropriate, Mulberry Lane reserves the right to ask that individual to leave immediately or prohibit future entry without a refund.
-
Children may be denied entry or asked to leave if they display multiple symptoms, including: fever, cough, runny nose, congestion, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, unusual fatigue or fussiness, or a rash of unknown cause. If they’re too sick for school or daycare, they’re too sick for Mulberry Lane.
Mulberry Lane staff reserves the right to dismiss guests at any time to maintain safety and comfort for all visitors.
Who can I talk to if I have questions?
If you’re in the space and need help, please stop by the Shorty’s counter. You can also reach us anytime via email — we’re here to help.
Thank you for being part of the Mulberry Lane community and for growing with us 💛
